Construction Materials: Salvage or Disposal?
Monday, May 22, 2017

In the course of a construction or remodeling project, there will inevitably be materials that need to be disposed of.  There are two options when determining how to remove construction materials: landfill or salvage.  Salvaging - or recycling - is simply bringing the materials to a facility that will reuse them for another purpose.

A question we are frequently asked is, “Is it better to dispose of construction materials or salvage them?”  The short answer is: salvage.  Here’s why…

It is less expensive.  The difference between salvage and disposal can be as much as 50%!  That’s a huge savings when you consider that up to 90% of your construction materials can be recycled.

It is simple.  Recycling and salvage have a bad reputation as being a hassle, but it’s simply untrue.  As easily as we can arrange for the disposal of construction waste, we can also arrange for recycling.

It is better for the environment.  Recycling reduces the amount of waste in landfills, while also cutting back on the raw goods and energy required to manufacture new materials.

It creates jobs.  Did you know that recycling actually creates more jobs than landfilling or incineration?

Our employees will use their expertise to determine the safest way to remove your construction materials, while also evaluating materials are eligible for salvage.  Commonly salvaged materials include:

·        Debris

·        Concrete

·        Windows

·        Asphalt

·        Brick

·        Shingles
